This morning I am crying on the floor and my eight year old sister sees me crying. She runs up to me and pulls my head against her chest and squeezes. She says “I don’t know what’s wrong but I love you and I am sorry you’re hurting.” And I felt better. She didn’t tell me it was gonna be okay. She didn’t make any promises. She just told me she loved me. And that was enough.
